It has recently occurred to me that if I want a quality custom shoulder holster for my gear, I will have to make it myself...or send my guns to the maker. Since the latter, is not a possibility right now, I have decided to try my hand at makking my own holsters. I have scoured the internet and have found very little information on what to do. I am fairly comfortable making kydex sheaths using the wood press I built. But I want to make a perfect shoulder set for myself, and if it turns out well, for some of my friends. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me put together the tools I will need as well as some rudimentary info on the best way to pattern the holsters.
With the knives I sheathed, I covered the knife with tape and then heated the Kydex around it, then pressed it until it fit perfectly in a wood press I put together. I then used rivets to make it look semi-professional. All in all, it looked pretty good, but decidedly unprofessional. Since I have no interest in selling my work, this didn't bother me unduly. But with a holster, I want to make sure it is comfortable.
Any help would be greatly appreciated everybody.
Thanks,
Ed
