Just putting some basic info down for people getting into the sheath stuff. I've always chosen to do things the hard way, which means if a post on a screw is too long I file it down instead of using some sort of washer, etc. Takes forever and it's stupid. So, I started seeing these nice washers on the clips of sheaths, which basically make it so you can use a longer post on the screw, and I thought "That's a good idea, but I'm in a pinch, so I'll make my own." So, on my last 3-4 custom sheaths I've included handmade G-10 washers, which, is also really stupid. On my way to my office this morning I was passing by Lowe's and said "Eureka! The plumbing section probably has these little washers I need!"

So, sure enough, they did. They aren't perfectly sized, but they're pretty darn close. Here's a list of the typical sheath hardware and stuff, feel free to add to it. This list works for Tekloks and even though I make all my own clips and stuff, I use the same hardware so it's all interchangeable. I don't know if this info works for using eyelets, because I don't use them, but someone will enlighten us:

-Screws: use Chicago screws or sex screws. You can probably get these from KnifeKits.com or maybe directly from Eric at On/Scene, too. You can usually find the right sizes at home stores like Lowe's, but they tend to be expensive. They are a 2-56 thread, and you can find all variations, types of metal, etc etc. The posts are always aluminum and they come in various lengths. 1/4" is probably the best all-around size, but I haven't measured mine yet.

- Drill- I think you need an 11/64" drill bit to drill the holes for these screws, but for some reason that doesn't sound right to me. I'll verify that tonight and correct this unless someone corrects it for me beforehand.

- Washers- go to the plumbing section and find "00" size flat washers. They're about 1/8" thick, hard rubber, black. The inner diameter is perfect to tightly fit over the Chicago screw post, and the outer diameter is 1/2", which is a little bigger than the base of the Chicago screw, but it's close and looks fine. They're 99 cents for a package of 10.

That's it for now!
