Been researching sheaths for my BK9

Thought I read that Kydex will dull the blade edge when rubbed on it withdrawing the knife from sheath

That true?

Not really , depends the way you unsheath, if you do it dragging the blade against its edge ,maybe so ,if you do it the opposite way nothing gonna happen.

I thought I read some were real bad to the edge and they were going to change the material chemistry or something

Not custom kydex. There were some reports about the FRN sheaths for the 11/14. Ka-Bar did change those sheaths, but it has nothing to do with custom kydex.

Frn= fiberglass reinforced nylon. Like the factory bk2 sheath...It dulled the edge on mine.

A quality made custom kydex sheath won't dull the edge, unless you get sand or other abrasive material stuck in the sheath.. Washing the knife and sheath occasionally can help prevent that thou.

I had read that as well so when I ordered my BK2 I ordered the 22 with polyester sheath. I hated that thing, it was huge. So I ordered this one from the maker off eBay.

Its a great sheath the knife sorta snaps into place. You can shack it upside down and it won't come out. I really like it. AND it does not dull the blade no matter how you sheath or unsheath it

Have had 2 myself for some time now. Nice sheaths for the money.

Yes kydex ruins steel. All steel. You should buy leather sheaths; from me. ;)

If it's rubbing on the edge, it may well dull it. Properly made kydex won't be contacting the edge at all.
