Anyone know of a maker who has KYDEX sheaths aval. for the BATAC? I can't send it from where I am to have one made, so I'm looking for one ready to ship.

Thanks!

Most of the regular sheath makers already own BATACs, so they can make one up without the actual knife.

Buy Brown is one. Rainwalker is another. On Scene Tactical. Okuden.

My Spec Ops fits it like a glove, and the plastic insert isn't scratching up the finish. Its probably just me, but I hate what kydex does to the coatings. And for only $32, I also get an extra pouch on the Spec Ops for extras. I don't see why anyone fusses with kydex when there's Spec Ops. *no gratuities were acquired in creating this post*

brian wagner of okuden uses a choil retention system, as opposed to a blade retention, so the "rash" is almost non existant.

but there is a wait. best to email him and ask about production times. my orders have varied, from a week to a couple months.

David_E of Kytac has one of mine in stock. No problem if he wants to use it for an extra for you!

I was able to get a sheath made from Brian at okuden, he had the knife on hand. If your deployed he will expedite your request.

If you are deployed and don't mind some minor cosmetic flaws on the BACK of the sheath and want a right side, edge facing back carry, I have one ready to ship TODAY.

The insert in Spec Ops sheaths is Kydex.

Because custom Kydex carries smaller, conceals, locks securely. can't handle wear? Use a safe! I strip nearly all mine anyway.

I don't think the insert of the Spec Ops sheath is kydex. It doesn't behave like kydex, doesn't look like kydex and I was not aware of kydex being offered as a flattened tube.

I think they USED to be kydex, and maybe their website claims they are kydex, but all the ones I've seen are not.

The main problem with Spec Ops sheaths for me is that they are so bulky. A lot of times I carry knives in my messenger bag, and a Spec Ops sheath takes up a lot of space, and catches on everything when you try to pull it out. Kydex is sleek and minimal- the best carry sheath option available, IMO.

It might not behave like _good_ Kydex, but it seems awfully Kydex-like when compared to other sheaths (though I seem to be one short...my BATAC Is naked, David!). And, yes, they claim it is Kydex...http://www.specopsbrand.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=27

Hey if your deployed I recommend using blade tech's MOLLE locks over ghetto rigging your blade to your vest. I know Okuden will include the locks free of charge with a sheath.
