Kydex for BK9 - Taco or Pancake?

I plan to get a kydex sheath for my BK9, but I can't seem to decide what style - taco or pancake - so I wanna pick your collective brains on the subject.

I'd like to be able to carry it either on my belt or on my pack, but realistically it'd be carried mostly on my pack.

So, what style of sheath do you have for your BK9 (or other similar large fixed blade) and why?

Pancake. I hate fold-overs. They are fine for stuff like Moras, but I don't think they are the best choice for big blades. Just my opinion.

I would have to go with the pancake style myself. More tie down options.

I like fold over or taco style.
But to put on a pack I agree with grouchy Tanner.

Pancake. More mounting options, better for accessories if you want a pouch or something on there too.

tacos are OK for small knives, or neck sheaths...but I prefer pancake. So many more options for carry/lashing...especially on a pack mounted system. I honestly prefer the pancake even on my 14 sheath.

also, from a making viewpoint...I much prefer making pancakes...its easier to fit when pressing, and usually a much tighter fit when ur done

Taco, works for me and I like the reduced size.

Why do I got to be grouchy? There's only two choices, I have to pick one. Pancake offers more options for attaching the sheath to things, or attaching things to the sheath. Plus, the extra rivets make it manlier. Like a hairy chest in the 70's.

Thanks for the responses guys. I was kinda leaning towards pancake before I asked since it seemed like it would be easier to tie onto a molle pack with paracord or a molle-lok.

Trailbum, why do you like taco better? Is there any advantage for belt carry? I do prefer the looks of taco style, but only marginally.

EDIT: oh, I should've mentioned this in the OP, but I wouldn't hate it if you decided to post pics :D (Thanks SleepyBadger)

I am a pancake man myself. For most of the reasons already stated. Options, i like options. It may work great for 6 months, then you have an epiphany & want to mount it or carry it differently. On a different pack, inside of it, outside of it or even weak side carry because of a firearm on the other, drop leg, baldric rig, etc... . Having the holes on both sides really helps with all that.

Now, if it going to be a concealed blade, taco style is the way to go. Thats when you want it as small as possible.

not much to add that hasn't been said.

Like the way taco looks, and for small knives. Like pancake for bigger/tie down options, say a BK-9 but in that case I don't have much if any argument with the current big becker sheath either- not a sexy but works just fine

taco works well on the 16. Anything bigger I personally prefer the pancake...but even in the 9 size knife a taco works fine, especially if u intend on belt carry.
