And here's a little write-up to explain the whole Kydex thing...
First, we start out with an overall pic of all the parts used:
On the left is the firesteel I use (Light My Fire: Army Model) and the loop I make for it.
Next is the kydex sheath - you'll note that I make a slight indent at the front of the handle where the first lanyard is - this sheath fits any bushcraft I make because that lil' dot will hold it in place no matter the width of your handle, or if you a striker tip, etc.
Right of center you can see the hardware. Look closely. There are 2 sets of screws - one is longer than the other.
Short screws - for Large TekLoks
Long screws - for IWB TekLoks and Firesteel Loops
Also, you can see the threaded aluminum posts...(female connector)....Tom and I get these turned down slightly at the end to fit the rivets we use.
Top right shows an In-The-Waistband TekLok and below that a Large TekLok. (I rarely use small tekloks)
Flip the sheath over (backside up) and secure the firesteel loop to either the back of the sheath like this:
Or the front side of the sheath like this:
Then attach the Large TekLok and you're good to go.
Another route you can go is with an In-The-Waistband (IWB) TekLok.
The advantage here is easy on/off that is also quite secure. Plus you can angle the blade for easier draw. Personally, this is my preferred method of carry for my fixed blades in kydex....I don't like the sheath hanging out to catch on everything. This way, when it's time to get in my car, or sit down to watch TV, etc. and I don't want my knife sticking me in the side...I can just pop the whole thing off without having to take my belt off.
As many of you already know...I'm not a lil' guy...yet IWB carry is a piece of cake for me with the sheath set up this way. I wouldn't make it and wear it if it didn't work.
Here's a pic of me with the sheath in my belt:
If you have any questions...feel free to ask!
Thanks for looking!
