hi, ok i just couldnt stand the wait on the junglas so i picked up a rtak2 to tide me over until the junglas is out. i got to thinking about how to carry it and its too big for belt carry and if its on the pack i'm probably not going to use it. so i made a kydex sheath with a leather backplate and d rings to attach to a rifle sling and carry it crossbody. i've got some refining to do yet but here is the prototype.

Looks good. That's a big blade:eek: My one question is what keeps it from sliding around and hanging when you bend over or kneel? I ask because I wear my RC-3 baldric style and it sometimes slips around my front and dangles when i stoop over or kneel while in the bush.

yep thats one of the refinements i have to work on, maybe put a swivel loop to attach to a belt loop.

If you replace your bottom slider with a snap buckle, you could snap it through your belt loop and it should catch and prevent sliding for the most part.

Ouch, good things come to those who wait. Esee has better fit and finish, heat treatment and warranty. I pre-ordered the junglas. Patiently waiting.

yep i know esee's fit and finish is far nicer, just couldn't stand the wait anymore. when the junglas comes out i'll buy it too, never have too many knives.

in the mean time this isn't a knife its a short sword! whacked on a few tree limbs this afternoon with it. gonna build me a new fire pit outside.

Oh yeah, you were telling me about this one. I like how it turned out. Maybe you could do a comparison between Junglas and Rtak.

Interesting Idea although I would have gone for a more stable mounting position, as it is it looks asthough it will take 2 hands to un shieth the knife and cut your way through the brush or what ever else you plan on doing (hack through zombies?) perhaps mounted upside down (pomel down?) on the strap of your pack for easy access and also one handed use?

been tryin it out most of the afternoon, works best with but down behind me, if i run the strap through a belt loop it works great in front.

not a one hander thats for sure when sheathing, but takin it out one hand no problem

Oh, in that case you are right, great knife for the big wilderness. KNIFEABILITY- a must for all humans

Interesting topic. You know the Busse BWM should tide you over until the Junglas release also. :D I made a quick kydex sheath for my BWM but just throw the whole thing inside my backpack.
I actually purchased the 10" cordura sheath from Scrap yard for it but I agree, it may be more than I want to belt carry. We'll see.
What if you doubled up your sling for a x shaped cross over both shoulders and made it so you could tighten it down like backpack straps with the chest strap?
