Kydex/Izula/ spacers to stop wear

I have 2mm kydex and an izula. Plenty of good looking ways to make a sheath online... I saw one write-up of a kydex for izula that said spacers were used to make the void surrounding the blade oversized. This means there is no contact on the blade and little/no wear...
Obviously retention is achieved via the kydex shaped around the finger guard, gives a snapping effect-good grip on the knife - i hope?

Does anyone use spacers on the blade when pressing? If so, what material, dimensions etc.

Will post my efforts when complete...

Many thanks,

The left one is a bit quicker to draw.
I leveled the outline with a little piece of leather I cut to size and taped to the knife.
The right one has the snap. I only put a thin piece of masking tape on the blade to create a litlle bit of room.

I like to use a layer or two of masking tape but keep the tip (maybe 1/4") exposed so it doesn't rattle around.
