I must say that this project did not go as planned. The kydex I procured to do the sheath with is .095 thick and I could not buy eyelets long enough to hold two pieces together. Heating the stuff was also difficult and I was forced to go back several times with the heat gun to correct the fit. It is an open top "quick-release" type sheath very sturdy. I admittedly copied Il bruche's idea to put rings on it for baldric carry.

Thanks For Looking

Love to see the kydex, very nice job. Is there a belt loop or anything to hold it down when you draw with a baldric?

mPisi-Thank you,no there is no belt loop. I was planning on one and then ran into some hardware diificulties. Most of my baldric rigs don't need one.

I know, just thinking that the kydex will be snapped around the blade and the draw won't work like a normal scabbard in a baldric.

mPisi-Yes ,you are correct. The sheath will have to be held in one hand ,while the other hand draws the khukuri. Pretty much unavoidable.

Yea, I've had nothing but PITA experiences with thick kydex. That came out looking pretty good though.

Thanks Fiddleback if I make another I may thin the edge of the kydex so the eyelets will work on it.

Nice sheath and picture:thumbup:

depending on what diameter you need...I may have some longer rivets - made just for 0.090" thick kydex. (I keep a stash handy...:D)

Let me know.

the trick is to thread the baldric UNDER your belt, so the belt keeps it from riding up, rather than just throwing over your shoulder outside the belt...

oops...that what I meant to say......I have some longer shaft eyelets

:foot:

Kronckew- Why not bring the rope down off one shoulder, across the body. Then thru the rings,criss-cross over sheath, and tie off on opposite side of waist?

Dan-Tell me more...

what's the inner diameter of the ones you are using now?

I use a 1/4" bit to drill holes for mine before setting the rivets....but the actual inner diameter of the rivet is 0.185"

The reason I ask is to make sure you have a die that will work. What do you use to set your rivets?
