Hello all! Does anyone have opinion on the kydex sheath over the molded plastic sheath for the Izula? Would it be worth it to get the kydex sheath? Does it feel and work better for getting the knife in and out of it while having nice tension? ~Luke

Kydex would be lighter and you could tune it to get the retention you desire. The stock sheath is not bad just a little heavy and bulky.

I replaced the plastic ESEE sheath, which btw, rattled when the knife was in place, with a Godspeed pancake. The OEM sheath appears to have been designed for those who will neck carry, which I don't; I now have a kydex sheath that allows me to conveniently carry cross draw or vertical, using either the G clip, or Tek-lok.

Alnamvet68, Thanks for the mention and I'm glad you like your sheath.

I think the stock sheath makes a good pocket sheath and/or neck sheath because it's simple to rig through the large hole but Kydex gives you all kinds of options while having an exact fit... what I find I like most is the thumb-push that a taco sheath gives you but a pancake gives you something to push off of too. I could talk about options too but they say that "a picture is worth a thousand words" so here's 15,000 worth:D

I replace a lot of stock sheaths for clients who want a slimmer option, I call these my "Minimalist" sheaths... I use the small eyelets to really keep everything compact/light.

The stock sheath is pretty good IMO. I first bought one with the intention of replacing the sheath with kydex but after using the stock sheath for a few years now I don't see any added benefit to kydex. I've rigged it for neck carry, pocket carry, belt carry with tek lock and belt carry with paracord. It worked in every configuration. Kydex may be nicer but I don't think it's really worth spending more money to fix a problem that doesn't exist. YMMV

Thanks for all your replies. I have been looking into a kydex sheath and will order one. My Izula does rattle in the stock sheath and isnt a significant problem, but to have the precision molded sheath I think will be better for my use and carry in my own opinion. Again thanks all! Great help ~Luke
