I finally had a chance to spend some time this weekend catching up on some long overdue Kydex sheaths I've been wanting to make.

Thought I'd share a few of them with everyone.

Mighty fine work !! I like 'em all, especially the 'mayonized' kydex. BTW, what kind of knife is in the kydex with holes ? Looks like a Murray Carter's piece.

Thanks guys!

Beluga, yep that's a Carter Muteki 4", not sure it has a model name. I have changed out the cord wrap a couple of times but it came from Murray cord wrapped, I'm not sure there's many like it. The OD neck sheath is for the Muteki also.

The others in the picture are:

Leatherman Supertool 200
Allen Blade Talonite Tadpole (smaller neck knife)
Allen Blade MEUK in 1095
Dozier Small Elk Hunter

I'm real happy with the "Holy" neck sheath as well but not sure I'll do a lot more - it was a ton of work!

looks nice !

Yup the one with the holes is an eye catcher.
Have you ever used the clear Kydex ( not sure if it is Kydex or what ..some type of polymer plastic ) saw a holster on Ebay made from it...looks trick !

WoW!

Clear sounds really cool and I would love to have some. I'm planning on giving a call to my local distributor to see if he can get something like that.

Andrew, I use a really good quality counter sink bit to polish the holes like that, it's made by Starret. The only reason I mention the "quality" part is because the cheaper counter sinks I have do not polish the edge nearly as well.

Chad,
You are good and I mean REALLY GOOD! Thses sheaths are better than most of the shops that do nothing BUT make kydex sheaths! Of all the neat things you do with knives and stuff, you really have a talent for this. I think you should try this professionally. There really is a lack of GOOD kydex sheath makers out there.

It must be very satisfying to produce such nice sheath work. When are you going pro with this?

Man I would love to have one of your sheaths for my new BM 47 Bali. Nice work, very clean and well executed.

Thanks for the kind words.

About 2 years ago I had a small side business doing sheaths and got overwhelmed with orders. At one point I had a back log of about 250 sheaths from a combination of makers, wholesalers and forumites and was spending way too much time trying to meet deadlines and not enough time with my wife.

We just bought a house this past year and have completely revamped my shop so that I can work much more efficiently and with the right equipment, so I am toying with doing full blown folder customization, sheath work and full custom knives part time.

I have a few new production folders coming in that will be getting customized and after that I'll be grinding my first blades - 2 knives are designed, the supplies are here and I have a heat treater lined up to work with me.

So hopefully fun things are on the horizon, keep your eyes peeled :)

Good Luck cpirtle!!! I will get in line for one of your pieces, you do good work and your a hell of a nice guy to deal with :)
