Kydex + Paracord Wrap

I want to start playing around with Kydex. My first project will be making a sheath for a Spyderco Mule. For now I'm using a paracord wrap handle on the mule. My concern is that if the Kydex covers part of the paracord, what happens when I retie the wrap? Even using the same wrap style it is unlikely that the cord is going to lay in exactly the same place. I'm wondering if it is feasible to make a sheath with good retention that only grabs the 1/4" or so of handle before the cord starts. Thoughts?

I would assume that if I'm going to try and make this work I should use 0.093" Kydex (instead of oh-80 or oh-60) as I'm going to want the sheath as stiff as possible.

I apologize for the pictures not being ideal for this discussion, but I'm at the office and don't have the knife with me.

I've done quite a few of them that way, and yes, .093 is the only way to go. Just make sure you have enough good engagement on the handle.
