I've been getting into kydex bending lately, and I've been thinking about what else you could use kydex to store. One thing that came to mind is my phone - but then, what would happen if hot Kydex was wrapped around my smartphone?

Has anyone ever tried this, and would it be a really bad idea?

I'd get a piece of wood and make a mock phone to do the shaping with the hot kydex. You may also want to line it with something to prevent scratches. I've thought about making a kydex case for my phone, but haven't had any good ideas/designs yet.

I would do it that way as well. Ive thought abou the idea also. Ive made chew can holders with a belt clip and lighter sheaths. These are the only things so far ive made that arent for knives, and it has worked great.

Exactly. You make a form. Wood often works well for this. You may need to make several prototypes adjusting the form each time before the resulting holster fits and works well. But this is extra work and expensive. Of course, once you've got that prefected form, you can make many sheaths from it. So, you can see why people who get into this stuff usually end up selling their work.

Blade tech already makes 'em for the iphone. Now a kydex holster for suppressors, that'd bring the masses! Specifically, for a say YHM cobra m2, you'd get my money!!!

Well thats not help for an Android fan :p

But in all honesty, I run an extended battery in my Bionic, so even if they made them for my phone, my phone wouldn't fit in them.

The wooden form sounds like a good idea.
