kydex rub marks

Is there any way to remove them from a bead blasted blade?

What chemicals soften/destroy kydex?

Thanks

Hey Shappa....

Where are the rub marks ???

Why are you asking about chemicals ????

If you have a little black rub on the blade,, try a little WD40 and a toothbrush,, that usually cleans it off...

If it's something thats happening now,, it's unlikely you'll change that and they will probably come back...

Give me a littlem ore information and I may be able to help you a little more...

Some times skuff marks are just part of life...

Hope this helped in some way

kydex sheaths are strickly for user knives. The scratches happen. WD40 helps but wont prevent dirt from getting in.

I was hoping that there was a chemical that could etch/remove/loosen the kydex from the steel without harming the blade or finish. You'd think there was something that destroyed kydex that wouldn't hurt steel.

The rub marks look like they are just there from the blade being pulled and inserted into the sheath. I don't think the sheath is dirty.

I realise that rub marks are sometimes the downside to kydex. I was just hoping that after all this time in use someone had stumbled on a way to remove the stuff from a blade.

I'll try WD40...

Thanks guys.

WD-40,works pretty good, but i found that brakefree works a bit better for what your talking about... like Bruce says,Kydex is for using knives, and on a beadblasted blade its terrible on the finish...every now and then give the sheath a good cleaning...;)

Hey Guys....

Actually I'll tell you what the problem is with bead blasted blades...

It's as if the blade was a very fine sandpaper, rubbing across the kydex..It rubs a little off each time, and gets caught up in the pours,,for lack of a better term...

If you can determine where the sheath is causing this,,a Very light spray,,either inside,,if you can't reach it with a Qtip or finger,,of silicone spray,,will make the surface slick,,and calm it down a little..May not go away,,but it does help...

I caution though..silicone spray can make the inside of the sheath so slick it won't hold the knife any longer,,and Can easy fall out under it's own weight,or a sharp jolt..Be Very careful how you use it...

Other than that,, if the knife is worth havinbg a new sheath made, get a qualified custom sheath maker to do one properly for you...However,, it could still happen...

It sucks,, but if you want the benifits of synthetics,,you have to put up with a little BS..
