Kydex Scabbard For A Katana???

Howdy,
Did do a search but no real match. I would take a wild guess that some custom kydex sheath designer might take a stab (pun intended) but I'm not
sure. Has anyone here seen one? If so, who makes one? And I assume one would have to ship the katana to the custom maker. Do you think it could be designed for over-the-shoulder carry?

Thanks in advance for your help.

A Katana of any appreciable quality would have a polished blade.....Kydex sheath and polished blade might not be a good mix. Katana average size would make over the shoulder (baldric) a little clumsy....flopping around. Traditional sash carry would seem to be more appropriate.

Paul, thanks for your post. I assume when you say it wouldn't be a good mix you are referring to the fact that the kydex would
scratch the polished blade? Is that correct? Do you have an alternate suggestion?

Thanks

PS: Since you are into leather, I guess that might be an alternative. I open to suggestions, but leather does have it's
moisture issues. Please advise. Thanks.

It depends on the value of your Katana, but the traditional wood or at least wood lined sheath would be my choice. Leather alone would not be stable enough over that much length. You should not store the Katana in any sheath regarding moisture concerns with the possible exception of the wood sheath and that's still not a good idea, (unless you live in the desert).

I do believe Kydex could, and probably would scratch the blade. There's just too much friction in and out.
