Well, here is my first attempt at kydex. HATE the rivets! There actually eyelets. I guess I need the molded anvil bast but anyway.
What I am looking for are screws to hold it all together. Using rubber washers along with screws. I know that there out there but All the info I can find suggests using chicago screws. Well, with .060 kydex there too long and a little big on smaler stuff. Any info where I can get such screws? I have seen them used but cant seem to dig up any info.
Thanks
Here is my first attempt....dont laugh :D

Looks good to me Brian. Did you try the rivets that are flat on both sides? The kind used on leather sheathes. I don't see why they wouldn't work. I made one kydex sheath and that's what I used.

I HAD small eyelets. The lack of the proper anvil made them flat...opps!

Brian you got reply Mail
You can grind those screws down even make a jig to do it in as far as length go.
and you can reduce the head size using a dremal and your belt Grinder ;)

Damn Dan...I was aftaid there would be hand work :D :D
I may have o just do that but these little eyelests will be good for test stuff. I think I can just drill them out... and replace them with screws :D

You can get some Chicago screws at Tandy's. The only good eyelets are the none "cut" ones like from Knifekits. Expensive as all get-out, but I don't know where else to get them from in bulk.

Take a look at Trace Rinaldi's sheaths. All screws....
Maybe McMaster Carr?

nothing wrong with hand work... :)

just my opinion Brian but you can do with a lot less holes , it will hold just as good with less rivet/screw work.
how's the knife pulling in and out?
those upper rivets/are (if you haven't found out the hard way yet)
the adjustments for the fit for in and out fit.
leg sheaths
this one is with eyelets

and this one done with cutler rivits

these are heavy 1/4 blades..
as you can see the upper rivets are placed to aid in the holding power of the Kydex. I use clamps first to find that place.
very nice first try BTW ;)

yeah. Too many holes :D I can see where the holes at the top can be the ones for tightness. Then add side holes as needed. The knife gous in and out with a tad bit of effort but it would work. I may like kydex for the ease in working with it. May just make one for the Irac knife but I'd still like your input on my finishes ;)

 you lost me on that one Brian..
finish apearance or finished knife combo's

OMT
you can get those rivets closer to the blade too for over all size reduction
of the Kydex.
I hope you don't mind my comments..it's just MHO.if it helps :)

the leg sheaths I did I made wide, for comfort in wearing on the leg,

I use those Chicago screws also, but haven't been able to find them with a stem less than 1/4. I always have to grind them down a bit.

I think you saw my knife...

That is what is used on my sheath. I actually used 3/8, but they sell 1/4. Rubber washers would be good, I just ground mine down. One problem is that they don't bottom the threads. so if you only leave .2 of the screw left, sometimes there might not be enough thread for the screw to grab onto...it may be just the quality of the screws I used.

Dan- remember I may send you the Iroc knife to look at? Thats all I was mentoning. Hey - any input is great!!

Looks like I need to just grind my screws down for now. I'll look through the McMaster Carr book his weekend. Maybe I can find something there...I hope :D
