Kydex Sheath for a Ontario SP2 Airforce Survival Knife

I just bought a Ontario SP2 knife. Rounded measurements are Blade length: 5.5", height 1.3", total: 10.75". I really dislike the sheath it comes with. Does anyone know of a sheath by another manufacturer that will fit this knife? I was looking at a few KaBar sheaths but the KaBars do not appear to be as tall. I would prefer Kydex but synthetic with MOLLE compatible and maybe even a pocketed sheath would be great as well.

Thanks guys.

Another question I have: I bought a Smith Tri-Hone system to put an edge on this knife since it came very dull. It is not quite at the sharpness I desire. I have run it on the stone several times now, using sharpie ink to make sure I am on the right angle. My technique is improving at finding the angle but its still not as sharp as I'd like. I have a 440A CRKT that cuts paper with ease but I reground it to a more aggressive angle. This SP2 is 1095 and I am finding its a lot more work to get that initial edge. Any tips? Should I stay on the medium stone only or would it be better to use the fine stone. I have read that these knives sometimes require several hours of sharpening to reach an ideal point. Should that be done on fine or medium? I am doing usually 3x pull with edge away and then 3x push with edge leading, alternating per side if that makes sense. I am using WD40 as lubricant. I have a hunch that I should be staying on the fine stone.

edit: the longer I stay on the fine stone the better it seems to cut paper. The edge is getting much nicer to look at as well (less visible imperfection). Hardest part is getting the curve (clip point knife).

Go to "Sheaths & Such". At the very top, there is a thread of sheath makers on this forum. They have pics of their work. Find one you like & go for it. Call them up or e-mail them. I would post a link to the thread on this site, but i just got in trouble for doing so, so ya gotta find it yourself.

If you are kinda new to free hand sharpening I would stay on the fine stone . That way you are less likely to remove too much material.Everyone has their own way of free handing . what works for me might not work for you . You can also go find the oldest ,uglyest, fatest hunter you can find and ask him to show you how he sharpens his knife. haha. one thing that helped me was remembering to use light pressure.

Thanks for the tips and the info on the thread. Ill check it out. I was hoping that there would be a kydex sheath commercially available so I wouldn't have to go custom but its probably worth it, the ontario sheath sucks.

This forum is a great resource!:p
