kydex sheath for an old carpenter axe

hi guys

one of my friends is carpenter and for his living he restore houses there is from 16-1700 years. they use old tools and he has just got a new axe made special for him! the handle is he making him self, but he needed a sheath for it so he can carry it when he is working.

I made this, what do you think?

Looks nice. Is it a tight enough friction fit that you don't need a retaining strap?

I like that sheath a lot. Would it make sense to put a snap into the kydex instead of using a retaining strap?
