Hey all, I'm a newcomer to these forums. I just purchensed myself a Fury G10 Shark yesterday as a sorta 18th B-day present to me. I can't find any information on this company or this knife online, but it seems to be able to do what i need it to do. (I do know its not top of the line, but I'm happy with it....until I get my next paycheck and can get something more fun :P) But anyways, to get on topic, I was wondering where I could find a kydex sheath for it, as the quality of the nylon one it came with is rather inferior, and I need something that I can wear from my 1" belt when I'm up in the open space. Any help/info any of yall can shoot me would be great.

Oh yes, required carry positions, vertical from belt, handle up, handle down, and have the slots in the sides to put nylon webbing through to attach to thigh (I plan on making a "tactical"-type thigh rig for riding. (Knife from belt is painful when I'm in saddle riding at a canter :P)

Thanks.

John.

If there is not a premade one out there, how much would it cost to have someone custom make a sheath for it, as long as I could work together with the person to design the sheath.

TYA, John.

Last I remember, kydex sheaths usually ran about $25 for a good one. Though I think you may want to save your money for a better knife. Fury is a company that I see rips a lot of designs off.

Thanks. But I do need the sheath, as I just got back from a hike, and the nylon sheath is already starting to fray. But I do certainly plan on getting a new knife, probably around next spring some time. (Not much disposable income.)

Anyways, thanks for the reply, and I'll still take offers from people, my perfered email address is: jr_steensen@hotmail.com. Thank you.

John.

What Kim is politely saying is that the Fury is a Piece of poop knife made with poor steel, badly heat treated and not worth purchasing a sheath for. The knife itself sells for about 20 bucks in Chinatown and if you paid a penny more for it, you got severely ripped off. I would suggest you get a carpeting or upholstry needle and some fishing line for sheath repairs and save your money for a better knife. Tell us what your budget is and we will point you in the right direction.

Edited to add:
THe company Fury is a manufacturer based in the People's Republic of China which mass produces low grade but functional cutlery for very low prices. Their stuff is usually available in martial arts boutiques and flea markets and sometimes as give-aways for business promotions. You can get their stuff pretty sharp, but in my experience, their knives are usually brittle and does not hold an edge for long.

I really do stand corrected. I took it rock climbing with me today. Its a POS. The edge ran down, after cutting three climbing ropes it was dull as hell, and the point bent over, just barely, but it did. I'm rather irked that I spent 45 dollars on this knife... :( (Thatll teach me to get a knife from big 5... Anyways, my price range is maximum of 50 dollars at this point, (Very deep in debt.) and maximum blade length of 4 inches, so it is legal for open carry. Also, I'm looking for something with good utility (but no serrations) but also something that can be well used in fighting if need arises. (Live in a bad part of town.) Oh, yes, and I'm looking for a fixed blade. I mean 50 bucks for the knife alone, hopefully comes will kydex/concealex sheath and will pay whatever that costs on top of 50. Thanks for the help guys, thatll teach me not to listen to my elders :P

under 4" fixed blade you might wanna take a look at some of CRKT's fixed blades like the Ryan Plan B http://www.1sks.com/store/crkt-ryan-plan-b.html or theCompanion then get a nice sheath from Normark http://www.mnsi.net/~nbtnoel/ theres alot of really good knives out there for 50bux with a good sheath you just gotta look around. Dont feel bad alot of people get burned buying knives like that, but you came here and youll be able to make better decisions next time.

For light use utility, you can try a Swedish Army Utility knife. They are relatively strong and sturdy as long as you don't abuse them. I sent one to "ichor", "The Bad Guy", "Lagarto" and they seem to like them. Many other members have this knife and I've never heard a complaint about them. The best part about it is that they cost about 10 to 12 bucks.

Also, for about fifty bucks, you can get a "Factory second" Cold Steel SRK. No one here can say that the SRK is not a sturdy knife. In spite of a thick blade, it also comes with a very sharp edge that's easily sharpened. The downside is that it's a carbon steel that requires some oiling. You can acquire one by visiting www.ltspecpro.com and checking out their factory seconds link.

both of the mentioned knives come with plastic sheaths just as sturdy as kydex and very much serviceable.

Going with a CRKT is also a very wise choice and you can't go wrong that way either.

ok....now I'm stuck between the SRK and the Companion. I'm just trying to figure out which I like more. I'm leaning towards the companion, but how hard will that stand up to utility use? (It certainly has the right geometry to work for a fighting knife.)

Edit: Specifically how well will the AUS-6M steel hold up to utility use? I can be pretty rough on my knife. (Then again, Ive had a small Gerber folder (the one with the finger loop in it) for 3 years...and it has a cheap plastic handle, and kinda crappy steel, doesnt hold an edge well.)

I would also suggest a CRKT Corkum "First Strike". The blade is 4 1/2 inches though. It may be worth a look as it seems to fit alot of your description to a "T". A great sounding sheath also. Check it out at 1SKS. It only lists for about 47.00 with the sheath you described included in the deal. The knife looks to be real sweet and as close to a Corcum as I will ever be able to get.;) By the way, Welcome to the forums..:D

My recommendation in your price range would be the CRKT Hammond ABC (all-bases-covered).
It seems like a great utility knife and I think it looks pretty cool too!!
