Does anyone know what to line a kydex sheath with that won't hold moisture? It is for a damascus blade and I don't want the kydex to scratch it.

i would think anything you could line kydex with that wouldnt scratch your blade would also retain moisture.

for damascus, leather might be the best option.

Hey GUys..

tje...

Anything you line a kydex sheath with will scratch the blade..
I don't care if you are using the fluff from around a ducklings ass,, eventually it will promote scratching on the knife..

What you need is a properly designed sheath...

No matter what you do however,,sometimes they still get scratched...

I suggest to people what don't want scratches on a blade,, to not use it..

Amen! Most scratches are caused by dirt and debris in the sheath, or off axis draws/insertions. A quality design will have some "freeplay" built in to help out, but kydex is uaually for working blades.

when people were asking about making kydex sheaths a few weeks ago it was brouight up many times that the kydex will not scratch the blade its not cleaning out the sheath after its made and/or getting dirt inside that willn scratch

and ya if you dont want it to get scratched put it in a frame and put it on your coffee table

"Best" is going to depend on what YOUR criteria and needs are - very subjective. Each of the better known sheathmakers have their own style and forte. How YOUR needs, wants, desires fit within what and how we do things will determine who makes the "best". Then there's always the chance that some up and comer lurking in the woodwork can fit YOUR needs closer than the bigger names. If I know another maker does things that will more closely fit what the customer wants, I'll send them that way.

I am personally partial to On/Scene Tacticals Kydex sheaths!! Eric makes an awesome sheath.

Maybe see if a Kydex sheath maker could line the sheath with thin sheets of delrin or teflon?? McMaster Carr sells it...

Hope this helps?
Darrell.........

Never could figure out why people persist on wanting to line kydex. Always is, was, will be a bad idea.

Thanks, Eric. Like your work as well. See ya' Knob Creek & Novi?
