Kydex sheath open edges

I just seen a custom knife with a kydex sheath, the ends of the sheath are all open. When I say open I mean I can pry apart and see spacing. Should custom knifemakers seal the ends somehow with cement or is it normal for them to leave the edges open? I would want it sealed for dust, dirt, and so on protection. Is this one of the things to look for in good vs novice makers?
How do you sheathmakers seal your ends...or do you?

IMO its not normal to "cement" the edges together. Dust etc is going to enter the open top, as long as the knife has a snug click without looseness is what I look for.

Open edges and a good drain hole help to keep it clean. Close it up tight you would suffer from a lot of dust and other debris getting stuck and scratching the blade.

There is no need to seal the ends of a kydex sheath.

A well made kydex sheath will not have any gaps, except possibly near the end if it is a "fold over" style sheath.

Now that I think about it that makes more sense. I seen the tips and tutorial section on USAKnifemaker talking about certain cement for kydex sheaths. It didn't make much sense to me so I googled it and many people seem to use cement. I have never seen a cemented kydex sheath, though all of my cold steel knife sheaths don't look like they have open edges.
