Scott, or anyone else who could help.

I have been carrying my Gossman PSK, Jr. everyday since I got it for around town and backcountry use. I am looking down the road to winter, and I would like to carry my knife on my weekly telemark skiing trips into the backcountry. My only concern is that I feel I need a sheath with solid retention so that I won't lose my knife when I take the inevitable downhill tumbles. A lack of good retention would of course be a health risk, also.

I know nothing about kydex. I have never used a kydex sheath. Scott do you make kydex sheaths for your knives that would have a retention system beyond friction? If not, could you suggest a maker?

Thanks,

I do make kydex sheaths but only for smaller knives like your Jr. Mine are simple neck/pocket carry. I'm sure there is someone who frequents BF that is better set up for more options making kydex sheaths then me. Even with kydex, if there is enough force on the knife it can push through where the kydex is put together. J.Williams knows first hand about this when he was in an accident.

I have a couple sheaths made by Brian Wagner. He is a knife and sheath maker, business name is Okuden.

Brian is a great guy and makes IMO the best kydex sheaths around.

Mashed Cat sheaths also makes some very top quality sheaths.

Hope this helps.

I have been noticing another maker here on the forum as well.

Looks like some very cool designs, and he might be able to double up the kydex to prevent penetration.
