Not sure if this is the right thread so move it if needed. I am getting set up to make a couple of Kydex sheaths, the sheath itself is not my problem its the clip. I am having a hard time finding a good option. What I want is a clip that allows for changing from horizontal to vertical carry and which uses a clip that can go on a belt or pant waist band. What have you guys used before? where is the best place to by them I think as I look at my current fixed blade set up I want to do 3 or 4. Thanks for any advice or insights.

ESEE 5/6 clip
They will fit most small to medium sheaths with a little trim and hole adjustment.

or make your own

Thanks love the make your own option didn't really realize that was possible. Will also be checking on the

Those were done by a maker here on the forum. It gets hot as hell down here and I wear a lot of shorts with elastic waist bands and no belt. They have a very tight snap and are very secure. Once they are on its a done deal. They really opened up my carry options.

I use the Esee 5/6 clip plate as well. I have them on about five knives. Will get more for any new blades. For smaller knives that don't need to be drop down the Esee 3/4 clip or izula clip might work. I carry the izula horizontal a lot.

If I'm wearing a belt, I prefer just to lash it on with paracord. May take a couple of minutes longer to set it up but I like that I can angle it how I want and it's usually more snug of a fit.

I'm a fan of tek-lok and my vote goes for it on a kydex :)

In fact I'm even making a leather sheath that accommodates tek-lok as a side project!

Spyderco's g-clip is minimalistic and highly functional. It also does not require a belt as you can just slip it to your pants. Only downside is that it is harder to remove than the tek-lok.

I use tek-loks almost 95% of the time on the ones I build and use.

I have made several of my own but depending on use and user they can and will fail if made out of even the thickest of material (I do not use anything less than .125" on my shop made clips)

The G-clip is awesome, it is much more robust than anything made out of kydex or boltron.

MOLLE loks are great in their current version (3rd gen)

The large tek-loks are width adjustable, work with MOLLE gear, and can be pretty easily changed from vertical to horizontal or a 45 degree angle.
