You guys seem to be purists when it comes to khuks, but has anyone made a kydex sheath for their Khukuri? Got any hints?

Thanks guys that was perfect. I guess I asked the right people. :0)

This is the message that I keep getting. Any idea what would cause it. I don't have trouble with any other sites.

Cuch they both come up for me. Don't have a clue as to what your problem may be.

Sorry, I think it had to do with my computer security. I went and turned off my firewalls and internet security and now it works fine.

The kydex with the Ganga Villager on Dan's site is one he did for me and it is excellent!

Here are my thoughts on alternative sheaths. For me, I want an alternative sheath when weight is a concern. If it is not I much prefer the traditional sheath.

I have Dan's Kydex and also a Terry Sisco quickdraw and both are great, light sheaths. However for easy access you just can't beat the traditional sheath. Most of mine are loose enough in the traditional sheath you can remove them with one hand. The wood sheath with the frog sets the handle away from your body so it's easy to get a hold of. There's no buttons or snaps to fumble with.

So if I am packing I use the lighter sheaths, but just hiking and trail clearing at home I just take the traditional sheath.

thanks for the kind words. I do the same as hollowdweller - kydex for light-carry.

That said, the quickdraw sheath Vess made (that I posted a while back) is pretty light and looks a heckuva lot better!

cucharadedragon - glad you got it working. I think I've asked before, but.....what part NWAR? (forgive my memory lapse)

aproy1101 - if you've got a heat gun and some patience, you can probably make your own. It's a relatively easy concept to pick up. Just takes practice to get it "just right"...

That kydex quickdraw I made for the YCS was a lot of fun and is probably my favorite style (for the khukuri). It's very easy to get it in and out, yet holds it quite solid.

I discovered, while making it, that the heft of the blade gives it great leverage in removing the khukuri from the sheath. So, I knew I could make the handle lock snug and tight. Since the holes are all spaced to fit a TekLok, there are quite a few carry options.

I live just outside of Fayetteville. Where did you end up moving to. Seems like I remember you said that you had family in Bentonville. We're probably only a few miles apart. I've been meaning to email to see about some sheath or Khuk work and possible to see some of your work but I've been swamped with work, kids, and church. This post about the Kydex sheaths actually renewed my interest. I love HI khuks but I hate the sheaths and I still don't think that I have the convexing down even though I tried again on my 12" AK yesterday.
