Kydex Sheath

I have never seen an RC 3 with a Kydex sheath. I don't see them on the Rat Cutlery site nor have I seen them offered with Kydex by any online retailers.

All the Izulas I've seen have been in the injection molded polymer.

No issues or concerns here, just the question I asked.

what kind of sites are you looking at?

They should all come with one, the RC4's kydex sheath is different than the RC3,6, and izula. Maybe that's what you meant?

The sheaths that come with the Izula, RC-3, and RC-6 is made of injection molded polymer, not thermo formed kydex.

Not really sure why the 4 is the only one with a kydex sheath. The cost to make the mold is pretty high so I guess that's a factor, also the fact that everyone seems to love the kydex.

If I'm not mistaken, Theknifeconnection.com offers kydex sheaths for the Izula and RC-3 that are very nice.

You could also go to one of the many custom kydex benders who frequent the forums.

Thanks Shotgunner. I had Onscene Tactical make a Kydex sheath for my Rat-3 several years ago. I really prefer Kydex to the injection molded models.

That was the point of my question. The RC-3 comes with the injection molded ploymer sheath and the RC-4 comes with Kydex. It seems strange that RAT doesn't standardize on one or the other.

My bad .... I did not even pay attention to the injected molder vs kydex and that was really the OPs point in the first place. My apologies to the OP.

The RC3, Izula and RC6 have injection molded polyethylene. The Rc4 had thermo molded Kydex. The RC5 will soon have a thermo molded Kydex sheath. The RC10 , soon to be released, will also have a Kydex sheath. These are the sheaths RAT Cutlery sells. I am sure there are dealers out there that have their own versions of different sheaths for our knives. Mike
