Hello all!

Can anybody tell me which thickness of kydex i should use for knife sheats?
Even more, can somebody tell me which kind of kydex to use? I looked up their web page and found they are making lots of different named kydex sheet products.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hello!

I use the Consealex material from www.blade-tech.com

The thickness of the material goes along with the size of the knife you are using...

I use the .060 for small neck knives like the Pup (about 55 grams in weight)

For most knives I use the .080 size...this is the best overall choice for knives up
to about 10-12 inches long...

For a large camp knife or tactical the .093 size works well...This is also a good choice for belt loops on larger knives...

Hope this helps...

When I was making lots of sheaths I was using 0.093" thick material exclusively. The only knife I ran into that I could not make a sheath for out of that material thickness was the Emerson La Griffe. I like my sheaths to be bombproof, so I still use 0.093" thick whenever possible. The 0.080" is probably a good choice if you're going to only buy one thickness, and although some sheathmakers will disagree, in my opinion 0.060" is only suitable for smaller knives. Just my 2 cents! As far as ordering Kydex, you will want Kydex 100, and the color I would always get is Calcutta Black. I like COncealex just as much as Kydex these days, and I think it may even be cheaper than Kydex now, so take a look at Blade-Tech's website before you buy anything.
