Kydex tool shadow boards

I'm going to start this off in the general knife forum just because I don't know where this fits. I work in Manufacturing Engineering and I had an idea on using kydex as a shadow board for our tool carts. traditionally we use high density foam and trace and cut out the shapes. I was wondering if anyone has made shadow boards out of kydex and maybe could chat me up about it?

Are you referring to the wall typically found in a shed, garage, etc that has the holes for hooks to hang tools? I reckon that would be extremely expensive to do that with Kydex but I could be wrong.

ooops Guess I should have mentioned that i'm talking about hand tools such as combination wrenches, screw drivers, and such. We build light industrial equipment where I work and each manufacturing cell has a specific set of hand tools needed for their task in that cell. Right now we are using foam and hand tracing the outlines of the tools and cutting them with a razor knife

This is probably over my head. I thought you meant using Kydex instead of the typical shadow board or potentially giving the crew kydex sheaths for their tools.

Are you using one large sheet and cutting negatives for the tools to sit in, or are you cutting "place mats" for use with a back board?
