Does anyone know what the electrostatic or anti-static properties are for the Kydex used in making knife sheaths??

Hi Terry..

Kydex and Concealex do have some static electrical properties...
They do hold some slight static electricity..

How much though I have no idea...

Why are you asking ??

I made my first knife sheath with some and was showing it to a co-worker and was telling him how easy it was to make things with it. He thought it would be good to make some holsters and things for tools some of the technicians and engineers use in a computer clean room, but only if it is anti-static. I did find a place that makes some anti-static at:
http://www.kydex.com/uk/SHEET/specifications/kydex_100as.html

but i do not know if the Kydex i got from Knife & Gun supply is anti-static:

Hey Terry...

Yaa you can make a ton of stuff with it.. It really is endless...

The Static isn't a problem at all,, it only holds lint and dust..Thats about the only thing it will hold..

Eric, I think the problem he has with the static is because its to be used in a clean room. any static electricity can cause problems for microchips and other sensitive equipment.

course i could have misinterpreted what he said.

chances are, you have Kydex T, maybe Kydex 100. check the properties of those two.

Hey Guys....

Its used in clean rooms all the time,, but I think more for medical purposes..
you'll have to look into the micro chip problem...
Not sure about that..

I use Concealex BTW,,not kydex...

Andrew.. You getting shocked when you grind ??

Get an anti stic band or something..I get it more when I vacume then when I grind...
