Hi guys, I just wanted to share this knife build journey I have been on for a little while now, it is a knife that I have wanted and waited for, for some years now and Kyle contacted me about 8 months ago and said my knife was being started (Happy Day!). These pics I am posting are progress pics that he sent me around than when it was first being started 8 months ago, I would have posted pics than but I was not a member here.
I asked for a feather Damascus fixed blade 10 1/2" long with a double edge SharkFin Clip, frame construction, mammoth ivory handle scales that he let me pick out from a few he had, sculpted guard that we spoke in detail about and damascus frame with filed titanium liners. This is a very special knife to me. My grandfather had heard me speak of the knife over the years before my name came up and he knew I was looking forward to it very much, when Kyle said my name was up and we spoke about price and confirmed the build I told my grandfather. He said he wanted to help me, he gave me a special item of his he had from my great grandfather(his father) and told me he did not want me to keep it and to sell it because he knew how bad I wanted the knife. I did not feel great about that but he made me feel no guilt and sold it him self and gave me the money for the remaining half I needed. Needles to say, I am very eager to receive this knife. Here are some pictures Kyle sent me, he just sent me some more that I will post in a little while.

Congrats, you undoubtedly have a very special knife underway and it will certainly be worth the wait.
Kyle's made several for me and I have never been less than thrilled. And he's always a pleasure to work with.

Very beautiful work, it is so interesting to see the designs and work that you folks do at different stages. Absolute works of art. It'll be interesting to see it finished.

Congratulations on a super special project for you and for Kyle. Anxious to see how things turn out. Really like where this is headed.

What a lovely gesture by your grandfather. I am sure the knife will be outstanding - it's the only kind Kyle knows how to build - but I expect that the fact that it will always remind you of someone dear is what will make it really special.

It'll be a true heirloom, can't wait to see how she comes together. Congrats on the project!

Who's doing the leather for this and what style will it be?

Kyle is doing the leather. In the beginning he sent be pictures of different gator leather and let me pic the piece out. It would be a tooled brown leather sheath with gator inlay.

Yes, the combination of the gesture and memory with the fine craftsmanship will make it very special and something to keep forever. It made me feel emotional what my grandfather was willing to do to help me get this knife, I never expected that. Like you said, that will put a lot of meaning into this knife for me, my grandfather is very old and not doing great and I think that is why he did what he did. I am looking forward to showing him the piece, I can't wait to see his face, I am sure he will love to see mine as well.

Good choice.
If Kyle's building me a knife, it's getting a Kyle Sheath.
He really does fine work. I like how the sheath below follows the blade shape so well.

Was anyone able to see this at the Arkansas Custom knife show? I am pretty sure Kyle had this displayed on his table. I was not in attendance maybe some of you were? This obviously is a mid progress pic so the knife would have looked much different on the table. You can see the sculpting in the guard on this one, this is a detail me and Kyle spoke about, I love how that turned out.

looks like it will be a bit similar to my Royer accept the handle is a solid piece of walrus and yours has the nice mammoth scales. And I'm not sure but the fin clip on the spine looks more pronounced on yours.

If you don't mind i'll post..

Thanks for posting, love that one, I have scene a lot of it as I am always looking up Kyles work. Do you have a picture of it that you took? I always wanted to see different angles of it and others. Yea, ours are similar and you are right, mine does have a more pronounced Shark Fin and it is double edged, my guard is a lil different too.

You can see in the pics below the frame tang construction, the titanium liners have yet to be coined here and everything steel needs to be hand sanded and etched. Coming along nicely at this point.

Really?! lol, I knew someone would end up seeing it at the show on here. Kyle said quite a few people wanted to buy it and that it was a big hit. I have scene pics of it finished but nothing like it looks in person im sure. But I do have a pretty darn good idea and yes, I agree, it is pretty incredible.
