kyle royer

He's extraordinary, especially for a young man of 17 who has only been making knives for several years. He has made a knife for me which turned out great and he was a pleasure to deal with.
He posts a lot of his work here and on the CKCA forum.

If he sticks with it, I expect him to develop into one of the top forges in the industry.

Kyle Royer is absolutely amazing. His feather damascus is to die for.

No fooling. Here's mine

I have only seen his work in pix, but everything I have seen looks incredible.

He was at our Oklahoma City show and sold out. A very humble young man with a very sincere family backing his endevor. Good kid very soft spoken just lets his work talk for him. Mike Miller

It's amazing. He must have knifemaking flowing in his bloodlines.
That's fantastic!

Thats another beauty from Kyle. I cant imagine what he can do by the age of 21. I'm afraid with this much skill he will burn out and go onto something that pays better. Most knifemakers are in it for the thrill of developing their knowledge and skills.

many of us have been following KR closely in this forum for some time. The piece that Kevin has is probably the nicest I have seen of KR's but this one of mine that I obtained at Chicago is a very nice piece.

this one KR calls a Micro Fighter.

Would be nice to see some of the knives KR had at the Oklahoma show.

Bruce, in all my conversations with KR, once he finishes his home schooling he will become a full time knifemaker and this he wants to be his life's career. I'm sure it will be fun to watch his work over the next years.

Yeah when Kyle first started posting here he really got ALL of our attention. His knives look great.. and THEN you learn of his age. It is really thrilling to see him do this kinds of stuff. I hope to grab some of his work one day. We need to support the new talent coming in to this.

Murry, that is one of my favorites. I think Rob Connally has a great one too. Rob?

Thanks for the call out Jon! Kyle is uber talented and I can't imagine what his work will look like when he reaches the ripe old age of 21! This is knife #46 for him and me (bizarre that it is the 46th he made and the 46th custom in my collection!)

1084 and 15n20 Explosion Pattern Damascus, German Silver fittings with extensive filework, gorgeous Mammoth Ivory (obtained from DH III?). It's a real honor to own this knife from a humble and extremely talented young man!

This is a Royer Freedom Fighter from the Chicago show Sept. 2008. It was the door prize and I was lucky that day. Kyle is a very talented young maker.

Every one of Kyle's pieces that I have seen pics of are spectacular, But this one is simply awesome!!!

Kyle seems to have that Tim Hancock/John White thing going on with his handles and I love that.

Martin -- you got a great knife as a door prize. That is more than just a prize though. Hope you enjoy it a long time.
