My first 31 was a small Elforyn that I bought from the DLT drop last spring.
In most regards, the knife was/is great. But truth be told, the final fitment of the knife was lacking. It was off center (not subtly) with a truly horrible action and washers of uneven thickness==kinda like a step got missed and the knife was thrown together and boxed anyway. Not the end of the world and nothing that didn’t get fixed by 1500 grit lapping. But expectations weren’t met and some doubts were seeded.

I unboxed a L-31 Macassar Tanto today, and dang…its perfect. I’ve been geeking on it for hours and can’t find a flaw.
Perfect execution of a gorgeous, timeless design.
The execution is every bit as good as my best 21.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but that’s a nice pair you have there! 🤣
I agree the variation in Macassar makes it very interesting.
Bog Oak looks great against polished scales.
I’m glad you posted them!

I’ve never had the pleasure of handling Bog Oak.
In pictures, the grain structure makes them appear to have a tactile, ruddy texture. Is that the case, or are they smooth like other wood inlays?

Both of my recent 31s are very well executed.

Nothing is as smooth as my "Regular" from 1998, but I really like them so far. (One tanto, like yours, one Insingo.)

Seeing you flaunt your tanto around the forum is partly what got me hot for another CRK.

The KSF micarta tantos were among the last 21‘s to sell out, & I routinely kicked myself for not grabbing one. My new score scratches the itch though!
