I thought I would show you folks my most recently completed Integral. It was forged from 5/8 round L-6 and has a cherry burl handle. This is the knife I made for the exchange. If I can find where I wrote down the size specs I will post them.

Let me know what you think.

Now that is some sweet work! REALLY clean integral. Have you ever considered using some liners under the slabs! I think black would really set it off.

Thanks a bunch guys!

Erik I have thought about adding liners to an integral. Is there a liner material that would bend to fit the curve at the bolster?

Thanks agian

Good job, nice fit on the handle in the curves that's hard to do. Or for me it is looks like you got it down great.

Actually Burt Foster told me a great trick. You take some heavy construction paper and lay it on a flat surface. Coat it with some thin CA fairly heavy and then lay a scale down on it. Roll the scale towards your round end that fits into the bolster, pressing down so you form fit it to the scale. Keep flattening and rolling until it is totally adhered. Then just cut or sand the excess off. Then when you epoxy it to the blade, color your epoxy to the color of the paper (e.g. black paper, black tint) and voila, it blends in and if you should be off a little, no one will ever see it as the epoxy and paper become the same line, tricking the eye into not being able to see the minor flaws. Not that you seem to have any. That is a really excellent fitment! Once again, very nice work!

Thanks again guys. I keep plugging away at making integrals. I just love them. I have lots of neat ideas but most of them are still beyond my abilities.

Erik, thanks man! I had heard of using the heavy paper but have not tried it yet. Now that you have reminded me I will try it out on a regular knife and see how it goes. If it goes well I will do it on an integral:) I am color blind so I will have to have my wife help me with matching the colors.

On another note what do you guys think of the sheath? I have been making them this way for the integrals. Its the best thing I could come up with to hold them in there.

Thanks again.

I've been thinking of trying something similar for the slim little integral Justin Mercier made me in last year's Christmas swap.

Of course I have yet to successfully finish a sheath... It's my scariest but least interesting project for the coming year (after fouling up the one I tried for this year's swap).

I really like the sheath, especially the stitching. How did you get that pattern?

Erik, its called a step stich among other things. On this one I doubled the thread. what you do is go through one hole skip hole #2 go through the third hole and back to hole #2through it and repeat. Every time you skip a hole you nead to leave a little loop so that when you push the needle through that hole you stay on the same side of the thread.

I dont think I am very good at explaining this but I bet if you take a piece of scrap leather mark off some holes, drill them out, and give it a shot you will see its really simple.:) If you still have troubles I can do a toturial in the sheath/holster section and I will let you know about it.

Good explanation, I'll have to give it a shot! :D
