  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

L6 steel: information wanted!

Whatcha need to know? It's great stuff. Properly heat treated, it's super tough and holds a great edge. Negatives? Likes to rust, since it is a carbon steel. One of my favorite forgeable steels.

I've got a smatchet made from this steel. Holds am edge real well, and is easy to sharpen. Just keep it oiled.

L6Steel is also known as Mike Cooper! :)

Michael has worked a lot with L6, so I hope he sees this thread and tells us about it. As has been said here, it is supposed to be pretty tough stuff. It has some nickel in it, so it has a bit of stain resistance, IIRC.
