can somebody give me some info on L6 steel, I don't know much about this steel, what are the pro and cons of buying a knife made from L6, and what could I expect from it.

Thanks.

One place to learn a little is from Joe Talmadge's Steel FAQ.

http://www.bladeforums.com/features/faqsteel.shtml

In general L6 is known as a saw blade steel. A lot of people in timber country make knives out of old saw mill blades. Sometimes they just grind them out and don't bother to do a new heat treatment on the blades. This leaves the blades down in the upper 40's RC while you wish your knive was over 56. Ask about the heat treatment and hardness before you buy one

L6 is a very tough steel. The saw blade knife that I bought is very hard to deburr. I does not get as sharp as I would like (but I am a fanatic). It will rust if not taken care of.
