I went to a small local gun/knife show today. While I was talking to one of the makers who sells knives at this show everytime they have it, a guy walked up with a knife in his hand. He asked the maker if he would take a look at it and tell him what he thought he had, and if it was handmade or not. It had wood scales (not sure what wood they were), with brass pins, and had some very light rust on the blade. There was the name Wise on the ricasso area and after looking some more we noticed L6 stamped on the tang on the bottom side, between the scales.
This guy said that a friend had gone to an estate sale and bought a box (lot) of stuff without knowing what was in it. There was a bunch of old kitchen knives in the box and this knife also. The fellow who had it said that he paid the friend $5 for it. Someone in the family who had the estate sale told the fellow who brought it to the show that it had been in the family for about 12 yrs. Damn!!!!!!!!!!!every time I go to the estate sales, all I find is a bunch of junk. Oh, the blade was approx 7" long and was shaped like a bowie, the handle was curved downward on the butt end.
