L6Steel is THE MAN!!! ;)

L6steel is The Man! I sent a bunch of wood I received from Tom Mayo a while back to him to cut it into scales for me. I mainly had blocks of curly koa, although I had some mystery wood that was traded to me as desert ironwood (a lie) and some burl sections of koa, too. They all turned out pretty well. The koa suffered a little scorching, but I think it is just on the surface. all the pieces are very usable, and the burl koa is stunningly beautiful! L^ did the service as a favor, and I told him to keep some of the wood for himself. I am also making a sheath for a neck knife, so it was a good trade. Just thought I'd let people know what is so great about this forum!

Interesting effect...I wanted to see if font size and backgrounds could be messed with on this program. Question answered!

Chiro, how did you get that background to show up????

I used html code. I don't knowif my typing it will make it show up or not... I'll try by reversing the way the "<" and ">" go. With HTML, you want to put the < in first, then the >, so just do them backwards to the way i show them:
>body background="http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Lab/1298/lttextilebkgrd1.html"<
Just substitue the location of your background for what I have typed in in quotes, and do it exactly the same, except with the "<, >" facing the proper directions.

Don't use the forums to experiment with your HTML skills, folks. There are plenty of free web hosting services out there and free HTML editors where you can practise until you 100% know what you are doing.

Sorry to be a pain in the ass about this, but I don't like it when I have to waste an hour trying to fix something that someone thought would be cool just so the thread can be read again. It's happened before. Do me this small favor, ok?

Dr. Lathe, then again neither was Kysa, although she certainly did look like a chick!

Spark, i apologize about the HTML. I didn't know it isn't allowed. I know how to use HTML, and I expected the bakground and effects to be in the message area, where I am typing right now, rather than behind it. The background was a nice effect, but I could see how it would irritate you. Sorry!

No, you'd have to code it into the cell HTML and since you don't have access to it, you'd have to create a seperate table then code it into it's cells, then enter your message within that table.

Please don't take any offense at this, but this isn't exactly advanced HTML, and the fact that it didn't do what you expected should show that you shouldn't be experimenting here because you aren't 100% sure of what you are doing.

That is typically where most of my problems wind up coming from - people who have enough knowledge to cause problems and mess around, but not enough to know how to fix it and recognize the problem before it happens. Again, there are plenty of good places to practice practice practice before bringing the working result here.

BTW, FYI, here's an example of the kind of code would have worked:
<TABLE width="300" border="1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"><TR bgcolor="#FFFF33"><TD><FONT face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Blah blah blah</FONT></TD></TR><TR background="http://www.bladeforums.com/images/col-bg.gif"><TD><P align="center"><FONT face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">blah blah blah</FONT></P></TD></TR><TR bgcolor="#FFFFFF"><TD><DIV align="right"><FONT face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">blah blah blah</FONT></DIV></TD></TR></TABLE>

Remember that any hard returns turns into a line break through the UBB, so you have to edit them all out in your code (it will look like a huge jumble mess, which is why I suggest using an editor), and it's really easy to screw up, even for professionals.

Anyhow, notice the graphic in the middle cell. That's what you would have had to do to get your message to show up correctly. Hope this helps in the future

Just look at some of the messes Mike makes...

and you'll see what I mean

I don't need to get into an argument of who knows more HTML...if I did it for a living then maube it'd be worth it. Anyway, I apologized, and congrats on having a better understanding of HTML than I do. It's too bad it couldn't have been removed and ignored.

Look, I don't expect anyone that doesn't do what I do to have as much knowledge as I have.

Please just take what I was saying as constructive criticism and not insults, because that's what it was meant as. It's why I included an example of what you should have done, so that you could hopefully learn from your mistake and move on.
