LA California School Laws?

I've read up a little about it but it's kind of confusing. Basically I want a folder that I can bring to school if possible. I've read up about university laws and school laws... Is there much of a difference? I will be attending a highschool and I want to know if I may bring a knife on campus without it being illegal (expulsion aside).

First things first: No matter what the law says, schools have the right to ban all knives if they so choose. And they often do. If you violate an individual school's policy (but otherwise are complying with local law) you might not be arrested but you can bet you will be expelled immediately.

In K-12 schools, only non-locking folding knives with blades less than 2.5 inches are legal. Non-locking includes slipjoints such as commonly featured on Swiss Army Knives, where the blade will remain open but will close if moderate pressure is placed on it.

In colleges, folders of any size are legal, but single-edged fixed blades longer than 2.5 are not allowed on the campus.

Again, check the policy of the school. In K-12, the school's word is law essentially, because their position as stand-ins for parents makes the staff of the school police, judge, jury and executioner.
