I have been here for a while lurking around and researching different ideas on many different knives. My EDC rotation varies betwen an Extrema Ratio Fulcrum folder, Microtech Ultratech, Combat Elite RRF, and I always have my HAK. I am looking for different ideas and any PICS if possible on Emerson LaGriffe carry options. I work in a plain clothes narcotic unit.

I don't know about police work, but I have it strapped to the inside of my backpack strap for school or to the shoulder of my LBE harness when I'm out with the Army. If I didn't do that, I'd put it on the inside of a neck ID holder, sewn into a lapel, or on the inside of a belt.

Perchance have you had problems with the sheath? I almost need two hands to get mine out.

I had one and sold it. I am thinking about getting another one. I like the knife but I am looking for better ideas of carrying it.

A guy whose opinion I vary much respect carries his horizontally on the belt line just to left of the belt buckle w/ the handle canted slightly down. If you really want a lot of good ideas on carry and application of small fixed blades check out www.totalprotectioninteractive.com a very cool community w/ a lot of good info.

For some really clever concealed carry options check out the sheathing information on the HideAway Knife site. I am particularly fond of the Sheath Sticks.

For that matter, if you're looking at a La Griffe you should consider a HideAway Knife too. It's about half the size, but gives you the same blade length with equal or superior control and retention. A HideAway Knife can be concealed behind a playing card or under a medium-width shirt collar.

Thank you for your ideas but as my initial post states, I have a Hideaway. Looking for ideas for the La Griffe

I use the regular sheath and attached a length of para cordone end of which went around my belt, then I simply tuck the lagrifffe into my waist bandwhere I want it, generall just to the left of my belt buckle. Sort oflike the JSP static cord system. In the case of a rpid deployment the sheath is left dangling but the draw is very fast and the carry is discreet, comfy and very adjustable.

I have also used the original sheath with and fashioned an x shape paracord belt loop that allowed me to carry the knife on my belt line in the horizontal or vertical position

I think this is a superb sd knife and the sheath offers a number of carry methods if you play around with it a bit.

Did you see the pocket protector set up by Mickey Yurco on the Hide Away site? It's the one that has the knife sheathed and in your front pocket, the you draw the knife, the sheath catches the seam of the pants and pulls away from the knife, usually remaining in the pocket. I made one for my La Griffe and it work great! Mine is set up for a reverse grip draw. Contact Mickey Yurco and I am sure he can make one for you. He is a LEO with plenty of experience. He is also one of the nicest and funniest guys in the knife world!
