Hello,
Just got my girlfriend a La Griffe. She is leaving for Johannesburg, South Africa in a week and I was wondering if it was legal to carry the La Griffe (under her shirt, of course) there? How about pepper spray in her purse?
Thanks guys.

MUHAHAHAHAHA! :D

Please excuse my laughter......South Africa is my home country......Johannesburg my home city.

On a quiet day I carried a Glock 27 + spare 13rd mag...Commander folder in right front pocket. La Griffe around neck.
Maglight 4 cell,.....16 " ASP baton,Mad dog ATAK fixed blade in the car.

Oh by the way.....I was/am an 'ordinary' citizen of the country.

South Africa laws are continously changing. To answer you question.....the La Griffe is perfectly fine to carry.....and noboy can give sh*t about it. Pepper spray.....you may have some trouble getting that onto the plane...if I recall correctly that is one of the prohibited items that you cannot bring onto the plane.
There are plenty of stores that stock 'pepper spray' but if you want better stuff send me an email and I'll put you in the right direction.
Please email, I will gladly discuss areas to avoid at all costs...'tactics' needed to enjoy my fair city.
It is a beautiful country with lots to offer....but be alert to obvious dangers.

A large number of the population carry firearms. Individuals can carry concealed handguns. If radomly questioned by law enforcement offciers it would be necessary to produce a firearm license(as this is the only legal requirement needed to carry a firearm that is legally licensed to the carrier). Long arms carried in public are frowned upon.

It's not all that bad....just use your common-sense when travelling to a foreign country that you are not familiar with.

:D

I must apologise if I seem to be overly harsh. I have just mentioned this post to my fiance. She says that it really is not that bad.....and nothing ever happend to us when we lived in SA.

Well..she was not the one carrying firearms everyday....she was not the one carrying two handguns in the evenings.

Security was never a priority for her because she relied on me.

Just let her know to be very careful....

People that live in SA may say that it really is not that bad....those same people live behind 8ft walls, electrified fences, electronic security gates, electronic surveillance cameras, guard dogs and have armed response teams available 24/7.....only shop in malls and never go downtown......

I say again South Africa has lots to offer but be smart about what you do and how you do it.

Damn Hilton, Have you ever thought of applying for a job with the "Bureau of Tourism"? I've always wanted to visit SA, now I'm sure of it! :D

LMAO.....HEY! I was Minister of Tourism....muahahahahah

I could show you a good time in South Africa.....I'd have to be your tour guide.... ;)

:D

My main fear in Johannesburg was riding in a car traveling down the wrong side of the street. After two weeks, I still couldn't get used to it.

BOB

...traveling down the wrong side of the street...

Thats what all the 'cruisers'/'tourists' say when they get stopped by the COPS after they have picked up a hook.. erhmm you lady standing at the corner....
