The Lab Rats are coming? . . . What does that mean?

Over the past 40 years we have purchased tons of steel which we have heavily used, abused, and tested. We have jokingly referred to these test blades as "Lab Rats".

These knives feature heavily tweaked heat-treats and deep cryogenic cycles (-300 below zero).

These have typically been relatively simple designs with many different blade shapes that span many, if not all, areas of knife usage and applications.

Now, you will have a chance to score some of these new Swamp Rat designs made from a variety of these steels.

The first up will be a 5 1/2" killer cool Urgent Fury style blade made out of a Ball Bearing steel called 50100B that was manufactured by Sharon Steel prior to their closing in 1992

Perhaps a "Name the knife contest" would be a good way to kick off this small run, since there are a number of nameless knives in the "Lab Rat" series.

Stay tuned for pics and possibly a name-the-knife contest!!!

Let's Drink!

how about Dexter ?
he was a Lab Rat :)

How about a simple “LR Fury 1”?
Or even EF1 for “Experimental Fury 1”?
