I really put the Gosshawk to the test taking down a large maple in the front yard. I'm guessing the tree to be 20+ feet tall. It took 15 minutes to get it on the ground. I limbed it down to be finished off with an axe.

The tree is on the right.

The pic below is after it was limbed.

Very kewl! Next I have a 40ft Oak I need removed from my yard for ya to hack at, but you can only use my PSK... :D

Seriously, using the orginial Hawk, still liking it better then the modified version for your own use?

I don't have the new version yet. They are going to be cut out within the next week or two. I'm having both versions cut out. With a suggestion from Dan Shecthman as well as Kevin Estela, I having the handle tang under the scales skeletonized to lighten the handle and give it more weight in the head. I also think I'm going to contour the scales to provide a better grip.

Scott,

When you have the 2nd version ready, I'll gladly give it a workout. Can't say I'm as hellbent on destruction of trees as you though! Wow, that reminds me of the original Tusker Max workout.

Nicely done!

Sure thing Kev. Unfortunately that tree had to come down, too close to the overhead lines to the house.

Thanks Andy.
Just came in from finishing up with all that debris. I respect the feedback from the guys but I really like the way the original design performs. I completlely took that tree down and cut up into small pieces with the hawk. I did get the chainsaw out to saw the 6' long trunk into sections. The rest was completely taken down to a mere brush pile with the hawk. The Gosshawk is still shaving sharp.
