OUCH!!!! Okay, why exactly did i just click that :barf:

That's one cut I hope I don't have to get any time soon  :thumbdn:

The guy is lucky it was only a flesh wound.

His skull could have been crushed.

But then he would not have gone in to see the doc.

There are other grusome pictures on that site. They remind me of when I was in backcountry Nepal in the 70's. Often people with hideous problems would present in locations far from medical care. All I had was a primitive first aid kit with some antibiotic ointment, bandaids, etc. Of course I could do little good, but that did not stop people from asking for help.

Yup...that image is why I always try to make sure I have a good grip and a free swing area.

Also why I don't let anyone at the MWKK bring out beer before the knives are put away.

'Em crooked things're sharp...

.....blech

That is worth understanding. There are many strong and trained men on this forum, and I'm not one of them, but I can chop wood, and that man would not be alive if it had been one of those strikes.

That man is definately lucky to be alive. The impact must have been at a pretty shallow angle to the scull. Good thing for him. Well, I guess these khuks work after all!

To me it seems like the actual blow was kind of weak or at least not unobstructed. The strike seems to be at a shallow angle and not deep into the skull. The force of a Kukri of that size (size determined from picture) with a solid strike should have went all the way through and taken off more flesh. I would guess that he saw it coming, turned his head tot he right and raised his arms to block some of the blow before it struck his head. He is lucky the attacker didn't stay around for a finishing blow.

Ouch  My heart goes out to that poor feller, had a "misadventure" myself one time that took 52 stitches to close up my head. Fortunately, none of the sawdust stuffing inside got knocked loose, and at least some women still find me morbidly attractive (scars healed clean, have to get close to even notice). In seriousness, God bless the medics that worked on me, and God bless the folks that are helping that guy. I know too well, a wound like that one cuts more than your flesh.

Yes.

I worked for the Collin County Medical Examiner for a few months.
I've seen a lot of such injuries, worse even, and let me tell you, that aint nothing compared to a bad car wreck.
So remember the real risks in your daily lives and take care.

Roger that, Yvsa sent me some pics of folks with bizarre injuries from car wrecks that dayumed near gave me nightmares, and I've seen my share of "unpleasantness". It's tragic to see our young soldiers return from combat unscathed, only to die on their country's highways out blowing off steam. :(

Makes you wonder what he did to get that. Yak rustler? Commie? or mugging victim?

Either way, he's real lucky it didn't hit him square. Heads aren't as hard as wood...

Ad Astra

Grisly yes, but ....

... well, lads, what did you think they were for? Ghorkas haven't been carrying khuks forever just to open tins and chop firewood. It does indicate some consequences we should be prepared for, if picking up a Siru or Kobra is our first action "when things go bump in the night."

I got that one too :barf:

I agree with the glancing blow, but I don't think it necessarily was a lack of force. It might be hard to sink a blade into a slippery rounded piece of bone. Mmm, this is making me a little queasy :barf:

It's easier if you use a vise, or pin him to the ground with the torture knives.
