Pretty big town! But somewhat sinister... In France, we were building such flats in the 60's, but we stopped: they are too depressing.

This is La Courneuve, one of the most dangerous place in France for white and normal peoples. Cops are often assaulted there, and drug deal is the basis of the economy. Arsonists burn dozens of car every year. A pure product of the 60's massive building wave, that turned into violent ghettos when maghrebi and african migrants became majority in this social housing. They are hundreds of carters like that in France. You know, this was the kind of place where they burnt american flags yelling of happiness for 9/11.

But i guess you chinese peoples are much more civilized than these *µ=&$ù%*. Though it's not really a happy looking place, i hope you'll be well there. China is really an intriguing country, both with a millenaries old history and with a new vigour adaptating to the modern world. Hope it'll not lose its soul in this change.

I find your pictures interesting, partly because two of my cousins spent a couple of years working in China and they had some interesting tales to tell.

I must say that I could not even imagine living in the places in those pics above. Way WAY too many people crowded together in all those little boxes on top of one another. I would go insane in about a week.

Keep posting them though, I'm enjoying the pics.

Lachine, That palm tree with the bamboo braces reminded me of something amazing.

I am not sure i have my photos of them anymore, but when i went to hong kong and macau, I was AWE Struck, i mean completely awe struck at the bamboo scafolding the chinese use when building. I understand it is a long standing and respected craft in china, the lashing of bamboo. Seems you have alot ot construction around you i betr the other guys would be amazed.
