i just rediscovered that i have a Laci Szabo Jaws 2 made by Black Cloud. i acquired it about 2 years ago. i emailed laci about when i bought it and he said it was made of ATS 34 w/ linen micarta handles. it is 1 of 15 made by black cloud, which is no longer in business. according to laci, black cloud knives were famous for their strength and edge retention. black cloud was owned by Ernest Mayer, an engineer in metalurgie, who had a specific way to treat his ATS 34 so it could out perform any carbon steel. the original price was $250, but laci said (in 2005) it was worth at least $400.

what do you guys think of this? can any of you confirm this info? does anyone have any more info on this knife or Black Cloud? what do you think the value of the knife is now?

thanks

can anyone help me out? or point me in the right direction? is there somewhere else i should ask about this?

I honestly have no ideea about this knife.
You might want to try B. Levine, he's a walking encyclopedia and the fee is reasonable.

Don't know anything about your knife really, but saw this:

That would depend entirely on how you define performance. For example, if you place a high emphasis on rust resistance, then yeah, it will be better than most carbon steels. If you're talking about toughness, then no way.
