Laci Szabo Kerambit

Is this what you mean:

kerambit.jpg

I do not own one but am holding one as I type. It is different then a traditional kerambit. I also find that is doesn't fit my hands very well. I wear a size large glove and it seems a little tight in my grip.

I'm not overly impressed with the steel or finish of the knife. I do have one of Laci's box cutters and like that better although it does have the same steel and finish as the Kerambit.

I don't really like the sheath that the kerambit comes with. The point on the end opposite the blade makes sheathing options limited.

As a weapon (really, what else can this thing be)as opposed to the utility tool that firefighters and rescue workers supposidly buy this thing for, it moves a lot like a traditional kerambit without the spinning action. It probably would do better having a double edge.
The grip is secure and it is possible to do some good thrusting with the design.

I personally prefer the more traditional kerambits, but if you like Laci's designs you might like his kerambit.

Never much cared for that variation, just never floated my boat in the looks department, so I havent taken much interest.

But... the larger, slightly different design, one, I likes the looks of it... called the kerUUK... I like how it looks... what are peoples thoughts on it?

(And no, before anyone jumps on me, I dont base my defensive decisions on looks... I've seen some really pretty guns, but I'll take an old Mil-Spec Colt 1911 over a .38 cal mirror polished BBQ gun anyday. And part of what I consider looks, is that it looks like it'd fit my hand comfortably, and looks like its an effective design.)

I had a KerUUK and hated it. Heavy, clumsy, and just didn't suit me at all. I was considering a Box Cutter but then the design changed (I preferred the square blade shown in the original ads years back).

That thing looks uncomfortable to me. The most comfortable looking Kerambit I have seen is the JSP Bladerigger one. I have not handles any of these so take my opinion for what its worth.

it's gotta be a personal taste issue.
For me I've liked Laci's designs for a little
over four years now. I own a KerUUK and love it
I think it's the flat out coolest blade I own. I am
actually looking at either his Kerambit or box opener
next. My little testimonial there. If I had the
money I'd own most everything he puts out. They just
click for me.

I agree with Chambers. Personally, I see merit in each of Mr. Szabo's designs-including his Kerambit and KerUUK. The Szabo Kerambit affords unequaled retention and a versatility not found in more traditional Kerambit designs.

Thanks for the info...
Its not on the top of my list, but a kerUUK is definatly on my list (along with damn near every other thing on Szabo's site.. hehehe) as something to at least try out someday.
