These are some of the first knives that I have made. The one in the middle is the VERY first. It is scratched a bit because I have been carrying and using it to see how I did.
Daniel Prentice from Clarksville has generously taken me under his wing and is showing me the ropes. I have done "research" for years before ever touching metal to grinder.
Most are 1095 bar stock that I annealed. The two smallest (cord wrapped) were forged from railroad spikes. I saw the japanese wrap on the handle of a wakizashi I bought years ago to turn the blade into a "tactical" piece. I do not know what is called, but I like it. It covers the whole skin in the choil area, unlike the "traditional" wrap. I love doing this.
Am I on a path, or do I need to take up birdwatching??? David Farmer
