I just made this for a woman who wants a knife she can carry in her handbag or purse.

It has a 2 inch blade and is just over 4 inches overall.
ATS 34 and thin ivory scales with black spacers, nickelsilver pins.
I'll make some black leather for it, but I haven't decided on a design yet.
Would you guys make the sheath like the ones used for folders or a more open type where the knife is easy to grasp but also more exposed to whatever she may have in that bag.

I make little sheaths with clips like boot knives for the purses. That way the knife can be secured where she needs it in the purse thus has quick and easy access to it if ever needed. My wifes knife is clipped on the end of her purse on the inside thus the zipper will come right over it and all you see is the little part of the clip,But when walking through a parking lot or anything all she has to do it unzip a little bit of the purse and if needed it is rapidly employed..
Just my way of thinking about it.Oh yea hers is Ivory handled with a Nickel Silver throat and tip sheath and the stuff in the purse doesent bother it at all..
Here is a picture of it in another carry position that ladies like to use now days also..Just something to think about...

P.K. that's a pretty little knife! I think Bruce's idea is good, and I'd leave the hilt open for better access.

This morning I was working on a purse knife for my wife (a surprise for her) and wondering about this very subject. Somehow this forum and its members often anticipate my needs... This is sure cool.

use leather, kydex is too cheessey for a ivory handled blade. :D i have a open shealth with a clip as bruce described.

I made some lady's knives a while back and made leather sheaths for em. I kept them as compact as possible and put a hole near the tip and put a key ring thru it so they could attach it to their keys. The idea was when they were someplace they didn't feel safe they just held the knife in their hand with the keys dangling. I figured that way they'd be able to deploy the knife fast if need be and it wouldn't be obvious to others they were carrying a knife in their hand.

Thanks for your ideas gentlemen. I'll use leather but without the clip. I don't think she wants one, but if she does I'll put one on it. Self defense is not an issue here yet.
