Just thought I'd let folks in on something I just discovered. I found this ladies nail buff by Forever Flawless, lol. Its a small brick shaped piece about 3" by 1" thick with varying courses of polishing for nails.
One side is black and coarse then a blue side that is diamonds a black fine cotton sode and finally a white rubbery side presumably to pull off any imperfections?
Anyways, I have both a Work Shsrp and a diamond rod set but this silly nail thing gets my knives crazy biting sharp and I suck at sharpening. Its impressive.
It is constructed on a foam base that, while not soft per se, is not hard and will convex an edge.
I have no idea what it costs but it has gotten my knives scary sharp and I figured I would let others know about this.

My wife has one of those things. I've used to to remove some scratches from a blade. Don't tell my wife. Probably the ideal multi-grit pocket convexing "stone".

Same can be done with so-called 'emery boards'. I've used a black (coarse) and pink (fine) combo, purchased at Walmart, to actually reprofile (convex) & finish some simple kitchen knives, like parers. Many of these tools utilize silicon carbide or aluminum oxide as the abrasive, so they function just like sandpaper would. And any tool with diamond abrasive obviously has some potential as well.

The ones with a softish foam backing are best used with an edge-trailing stroke, as with convexing on sandpaper.
