does any one know of a site/dvd for ladies? it might make a good christmas gift. thanks

I heard years back she ws in a knife assault and her training didn't help her much?

Anyone know of the full story since what I heard was gossip?

Man of Leisure, she was ambushed in a hallway (dark) from behind, by an assailant with a knife, and without a weapon in hand. She survived to fight another day. Pretty frankly, that's testimony enough.

She was interviewed by Fighting Knives magazine and gave an amazingly frank and honest appraisal of herself and the incident. She lived thru it and was stronger for it.

She also did a little photo series in the article indicating how she managed to survive the attack and I remember being impressed then. Her training allowed her to recover from the shock of the immediately life threatening assault, respond and keep herself from being killed. How many armchair warriors can honestly say they would do as well?

Greg Walker may still be lurking in these electronic walls somewhere, or you may be able to scam up a copy of the FK interview - some old timers are around here to be sure.

Also look up Yelena Pawela, of Y-Training in Florida . She is by education an animal behavioralist and she survived an attack by five uglies with blades. Something from her shop may be very well suited for a woman as well.

Her site is at http://www.ytraining.com/

Thanks for the info...I had only heard of it but was never able to come across any details of the assault.

Surviving is always a plus in my book.

A lot of these martial arts fools now days have never even been in real street scenarios.

Growing up it was only one on one in school sometimes.

I was always jumped by a group while one fainted a fair fight the others swarmed to surround you and usually with impact weapons (metal marker, beer bottle,rock-brick.

I took a nice 40 ounce to the ear one time..was able to fight off the guys enough for them to not bum rush me...besides a few stitches in the ear,for 4 on one I fared pretty well I'd say.

This and sucker punches or pushes from behind ore the most prevalent I'd say...I saw this all the time...never a duel time B.S. most schools train for.

(1)Staying aware of surroundings ,(2)scanning during a fight and never letting a BG get behind you,and (3)getting up once you are taken down , I was able to get the advantage many of times by getting up quick from takedowns in the street.Once I go down, I usually push and pull on the dude...tripping, so I can get up while all he is doing is thinking pound the guy, are the best things one can do...then add some type of training so that in an assault you won't totally freeze or freak out..you try and go straight to work.

I'm a big fan of women carrying Kerambits and Stun guns. I plan on getting a Kris daga for my wife to keep in her purse heh :) good stuff!
