Ladybug and Ladybug3

Does anyone have the original Ladybug and the new Ladybug3 model? I was wondering if there is a difference in size as I believe I had read somewhere. I have the original and was thinking of getting the new one or maybe the hawkbill model. Pictures would be nice too.
 
If by Ladybug3 you're referring to the G10/VG10 model, they're the same size. The G10 version is way nicer IMO, brings it into a new class of knife. The G10 texture and jimping on the blade give it a new level of grip.

HAHA Natural Mystic Fail! Just kidding. The knives you posted are of the Spyderco Dragonfly not the Spyderco Ladybug.
 
I don't have a regular LB3, but judging by my old Ladybug and new Hawkbill LBs, the handles are within 1/16" of the same length and the blade length looks pretty close as well. Major steel upgrade, though.

Hi Sithus,

The lengths and thickness of the Ladybugs has remained the same. The newer version is wider in the handle and blade due to ergos changes and the larger opening hole.

This 2nd shot is with the Ladybug1 and Jester which uses the same handle as the Ladybug3.

I have some shots for ya. The original has a smaller hole and smaller blade where as the LB3 has more heft and is easier to open than the original. I believe the LB3 also uses the Jester handle design so it has more pronounced finger groves.

Here's a shot for relative size comparison with various Spydercos from the Bug up to the Pacific Salt. Crappy lighting but it was from a rushed shoot to get pics to post on the forums:

Well, I was going to take pics of my 4 Ladybugs (2 black originals, an orange Ladybug 3 and a Ladybug Salt) but when I got home from work, this thread had filled up with an eye-popping gallery. tinwiskers, that is quite a collection! Even Mrs. Tradja was impressed.

For a long time the AUS6 Ladybug was a favorite. Still is. Even now with the new orange Ladybug and Ladybug Salt, I still appreciate the slim lines and pointy blade of the original. If you like the original as I did, go ahead and pick up a Ladybug 3 -- you'll like it. The slightly broader handle offers slightly improved ergos and the upgraded steel is nice.

Where is the SS, White Sprint and the two flavors of Black regular blades in the LB3 Mix? :D Nice collection. Man I want an Orange one. :thumbup:

I've got an orange one and it is sweet. I might also note that the black PE original is missing. :D j/k, that collection is awesome.
 
That was my biggest question was about the blade. It looked like it was wider by the hole but most pictures online seemed deceptive. Side by side views help a lot.

I have the LBKP3 in black and am seriously coveting the yellow.

Spyderco should include keychains with these babies.
 
I added the McGizmo Stainless Steel clip on my yellow H1 Ladybug. It's great because it gives you about an inch more in length to grip the knife securely in your hand.
I was running low on my supply of clips so just ordered 10 more of the 25mm Micro clips and 10 more of the 20mm Nano clips from Lighthound. If you've seen my EDC pics you'll see I have them on most of my small gear. They're a bit pricey for a "clip" but IMO are worth it because they're strong, well built and SS.

If you look at my pic above, I've got the Micro on the Ladybug and the Nano on the SS Honey Bee.

How do you normally use these -- clipped to keychain, belt loop, what?
 
Hey flash,
I normally clip them onto a larger keyring which is attached to the "Secure A Key" that is clipped to my belt. It's clipped above my Right rear pocket and the keys, etc are tucked in my pocket.
